Thundermist Health Center of South County Hosts Patient Art Showcase
Wakefield, RI – December 9, 2019
Thundermist Health Center of South County recently hosted an art showcase. The event featured artwork by patients of Thundermist Health Center. Artwork was displayed during the event and some art was available for sale by the artists.
Art therapy is used for stress management, chronic pain, and to support recovery from substance use disorder.
“Many patients struggle with stress and pain management,” said Elizabeth Carter, LMHC, behavioral health clinician at Thundermist. “Art therapy helps engage patients in ways normal therapy cannot. It is enriching of the mind, body, and spirit. The event gave patients the opportunity to display their artwork and show their friends and family.”
The Art Showcase event was sponsored by Hera Gallery; State Opioid Response of South County; Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals (BHDDH); and the South County Prevention Coalition.
